A large boulder came down onto roadway about 1 mile up Tumwater canyon at about 4:30 pm Friday. The massive rock damaged the guardrail and pavement, and was large enough to block both lanes of traffic. The boulder was too be to be moved out by a loader, so avalanche control crews from Stevens Pass will blow up the rock and clear it away. That means Highway Traffic should detour through Plain for now. Jeff Adamson with the WSDOT said the boulder will be clear Friday night, but it could take several hours. There were no injuries or vehicles involved.
