A man is in the hospital after a black bear attacked him and his dogs last night. It all happened in the North Shore Road area of Lake Wenatchee, when Fish & Wildlife officials told KOHO News the still-unidentified man took his two small dogs out for a walk, and was attacked by the bear near the intersection of North Shore Road and the county road. F&W officials tracked down and killed the bear. Paramedics took the man to Central Washington Hospital initially, and was then airlifted him soon thereafter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Fish and Wildlife officials say they have no possible reason for the bear attack, since an unprovoked assault isn’t usually in their nature. They could confirm, though, that this bear was heading up North Shore road toppling garbage cans and trying to find “easy calories” in anticipation of the coming winter. More information to come as we receive it.
