The Leavenworth Leisure Games are right around the corner. This Saturday at the Festhalle will bring Seattle garage soul band Pickwick, who are finally set to release their much-anticipated debut full length album March 12th.
The band is about to embark on a national tour, but KOHO’s Isaac Kaplan-Woolner got to visit with lead singer Galen Disston and keyboardist Cassady Lillstrom at their band house and home recording studio. It was Pickwick’s band practice night, and some of those brand new sounds can be heard coming up from the basement during the interview.
We’ll start off the Arts Corner with a taste of one of Pickwick’s earlier 45 record recordings, Staged Names, and close with a taste of Pickwick’s breakout single Hacienda Motel. Again, Pickwick’s debut full length album “Can’t Talk Medicine” is out March 12th, including 4 re-recorded songs from the demo records. You can pre-order at www.pickwickmusic.com.
Tickets are still available for Saturday’s Pickwick show at the Leavenworth Leisure Games at the Festhalle. Hot Bodies in Motion opens the concert. Tickets and information is available at www.iciclebrewing.com.
*Editor's note: The songs heard in this piece are from Pickwick's first EP "Myths", which collects their early 45 singles, plus "Lady Luck" off of their new EP of cover songs. The new recordings will be out March 12th.
