All School Levies Passing, Cascade Bond Going Down To Defeat
February 09, 2011
School districts all around the region are breathing a sigh of relief this morning, with one notable exception.
Voters in Chelan and Okanogan counties passed all maintenance and operations levy measures in front of them yesterday, but voters in Leavenworth drew the line at a 46.4 million dollar bond measure in front of them. As of this morning, the bond has only captured a 46.2 percent “yes” vote, far short of the 60 percent supermajority needed for passage. While hundreds of ballots still remain to be counted, the possible road to passage for the bond measure is a rocky one.
