8:30 UPDATE: EAGLE FIRE

August 20, 2013

The

Eagle Fire morning briefing is over, and there are a few more details to share.

"MsoNormal">

The blaze that started yesterday about 2 miles up Eagle Creek Road a few miles outside of

Leavenworth is still listed at 250 acres, and no changes to previously reported evacuation notices.

"MsoNormal">The fire is backing down to a couple homes along

"on">Eagle Creek Road, and those homes are at a Level II

evacuation order.  The other flank of the fire has burned away from homes to the North and East, but the

other side of the coin is that the flames have danced into the arms of heavier fuels.  That means a dirtier

burn, more forbidding terrain, and more effort to stop its march.

A Type-II interagency team will take over management of the increasingly more complex fire this

afternoon.
