Reporter/Morning Show Producer
Born and raised in Western Massachusetts, Isaac’s first crack at radio was at age 15, hosting a music show on his high school radio station WNMH 91.5 FM. While the station only broadcast across 25 square miles or so, it gave Isaac a sense of radio’s power to create a virtual community.
Isaac brought a passion for media to his studies at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. A sociology major and communications minor, Isaac is as interested in critical media studies as he is in broadcasting itself.
While putting down his Pacific Northwest roots Isaac became involved with KBOO Community Radio (90.7 FM Portland). At KBOO Isaac volunteered first as reporter, then evening news anchor, and finally began producing the hour-long evening news program. Isaac also got his feet wet by interning at Portland’s Pulitzer prizewinning alternative weekly Willamette Week. There Isaac worked as a news reporter, while also writing restaurant and live music reviews.
In addition to the news, music has been a driving passion in Isaac’s life. He worked as a concert promoter and DJ in the Portland area, with two weekly live gigs and several internationally touring acts. While his tastes range all the way from bluegrass and Americana to rap and hip hop (and most everything in between), reggae has been a favorite genre for many years. Tune in to KOHO Saturday nights 11-Midnite for Insight Soundsystem, where Isaac makes reggae come alive. Isaac has also been freelancing articles for New York’s Jamrock Magazine.
But here at KOHO, the news is Isaac’s central focus. Now living in Wenatchee, he is always seeking opportunities to bring local perspectives to the biggest issues of the day. In addition to producing the KOHO Morning show and acting as a news reporter, Isaac produces his acclaimed weekly cooking show Cooking Local in the KOHO Kitchen (Fridays) as well as the KOHO Outdoor Report (Wednesdays).
Isaac believes that radio is the most powerful medium for sharing dynamic, emotional stories of the world in which we live. Therefore, he is always seeking new tips and ideas. Almost anything can make great radio, if approached with a little creativity, passion, and dedication. Send Isaac any and all story ideas, comments, or critiques to the link below.
