The Stevens Pass Downhill Mountain Bike Park has begun construction in earnest, with heavy machinery breaking ground for the first time yesterday.
The project is moving forward despite Steven’s Pass corporate owner, Harbor Properties, unexpectedly removing the $200,000 budget it had committed for phase one of construction.
That left bike park overseers scrambling to raise the necessary cash in just 60 days.
Marketing Manager Chris Rudolph said day tickets to ride the bike park this season would likely cost around $20. There are already plans to expand to 5 trails next year.
