Plans are in the works to create a new regional authority to oversee the Wenatchee Valley’s network of

recreational trails. Its an idea that came about in connection with local planning efforts related to the possible

sale of state-owned land along the eastside Apple Capital Loop Trail. Douglas County and the City of East

Wenatchee have been working with the State in planning for future land uses along the trail corridor. The

Chelan/Douglas Land Trust has also partnered in that planning effort. As a member of the Land Trust Dr. Elliott

Skull has been collaborating with State DOT, County and City officials in mapping out a strategy for how the lands

along the trail could be preserved and or developed in the future. He talked with Wenatchee Bureau Chief Steve

Hair about his role in the planning effort . .
