In his first week in office Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett already finds himself

in a budget hole. . Burnett learned on Monday that the previous administration left him with a 291-thousand dollar

budget shortfall. The shortfall was first reported Wednesday by Commissioner Keith Goehner who said the County is

now forced to tap into its reserves to balance the budget.

Burnett tells KOHO News that he’s been

crunching the numbers with the County’s financial staff to determine just what happened. While Burnett says he’s

not in a position to law blame for the budget discrepancy, he also admits that he was not fully apprised of the
