Chelan County Commissioner Ron Walter says he would not be inclined to support asking voters for a sales tax increase to help the Town Toyota Center construction loan. Commissioners were set to hear a formal presentation from the Public Facilities District earlier this week, but the meeting was cancelled. Walter vocalized some of his concerns about the proposal in an interview with Wenatchee Bureau Chief Steve Hair. . . Click above to hear interview

KOHO news reported last week that Douglas County Commissioners are leaning toward placing the measure on the ballot for voters to decide.
If the measure were to be placed on the ballot next February, it would require a simple majority vote in Chelan and Douglas Counties to pass. The PFD estimates the sales tax increase would generate a little over 3 million dollars in annual revenue to be applied to the Arena’s debt service.
