Chelan County

has found its brand : Washington’s Playground. A new tourism marketing campaign based on that theme was launched

this week with a series of new Television ads and interactive website and its really got local tourism officials

pumped. The campaign is paid for with revenue generated from a 2 percent lodging tax on motels in the

unincorporated areas of Chelan County. The new campaign was unveiled before County Commissioners at their Tuesday

meeting. Wenatchee Bureau Chief Steve Hair talked with two of the campaign organizers. Nearly 1 million dollars in

revenue has been generated from the County’s lodging tax since it was implemented two years ago.
