The Wenatchee City Council got a briefing yesterday on the concept of creating a regional fire authority. A presentation by the City’s Fire Chief Stan Smoke and Firefighter’s union president, Kelly Linderman covered the details of how such an organization could be formed and why its being considered. According to Smoke in an interview with Wenatchee Bureau Chief Steve Hair, the talks are just now getting started with Chelan County Fire district one and Douglas County Fire district 2. Chief Smoke’s presentation to the Wenatchee City Council yesterday followed a similar meeting between Chelan County District one Chief, Mike Burnett and his board of Commissioners. Burnett echoed Smokes support for exploring the possible consolidation. Douglas County District Two Chief Chuck Fenton was also slated to discuss the regional fire authority issue with his Commissioners earlier this week.
