Chelan County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Burnett has thrown his hat into the ring for Sheriff. The 42 year old candidate was raised in Chelan County. His work history includes experience as a logger in the timber industry. He first got into law enforcement as a corrections deputy with the Chelan County Regional Jail in 1998. In 2007 he left law enforcement and relocated his family to Boise, Idaho but returned in 2008 to the Sheriff’s Department. Most recently Burnett served the Chelan City Deputy and as the Lake Chelan School District Resource Officer. Burnett talked to Steve Hair about his qualifications and experience and why he’s decided to run for Sheriff. Burnett is the only Republican candidate thus far to announce his intentions to challenge Sheriff Mike Harum in the September Primary. Last Week Sgt Mike Hartnett, a Democrat announced his candidacy.
