Business hours are changing at ChelanCounty’s Department of Community Development. A new compressed work schedule will mean the office will be closed to the public on Friday’s. Outgoing Community Development director, Bill Bailey says the revised office hours will provide staff more time on Fridays to focus on existing building and planning projects. The department’s annual budget has dropped from $2.33 million in 2008 to $1.4 million this year. Staff has also been cut by 6 employees which Bailey says adds to the strain. Bailey says the new office hours will probably go into effect in March after Commissioners revise the CountyCode to reflect the changes to the schedule. Bailey announced his resignation late last week. He explained the reasons for his departure to Commissioners at their Tuesday meeting . . .

Commissioners have not decided if they plan to conduct a search for a new planning director or if they will fill the position in-house.
