A Cashmere family that lost their home in a weekend fire is getting help from the Red Cross. Jeff and Jillian Smith lost all of their belongings in the Saturday night blaze at their Mission Creek Road home. Wenatchee Bureau Chief Steve Hair spoke with Mariah Thornack with the Apple Valley Chapter of the Red Cross about the family’s plight . .

Checks should be made payable to the Apple Valley Chapter of the Red Cross and specify on the check that the money be directed to the Smith family. Friends have set up The Benefit Fund of Jeff & Jillian Smith at Cashmere Valley Bank. Donations can be made at any branch, or by mailing a check to Cashmere Valley Bank, P.O. Box G, Cashmere, WA 98815. Other donations such as clothing, toys, appliances, dog food and household items can be dropped off at Valley Tractor in East Wenatchee. A Facebook page under “Shelton Renyel” has current information about the family’s needs.
