Chelan County is now projected to end the current budget year with at least a one million dollar shortfall. Heading into 2010 that will likely mean more layoffs and service cutbacks. Its reported that up to fifty employees could lose their jobs at the Chelan County courthouse if the revenue trends continue. The County’s current year budget also reflects a 400-thousand dollar unbudgeted back-pay that resulted from the recent settling of the Sheriff’s Deputies labor contract. Commissioners continue their budget discussions and are slated to adopt next year’s spending plan in December.
