Watch out for a scam that is apparently hitting cell phones across Chelan County. Sgt. Cheri Smith with the Wenatchee Police Department says people are receiving a seemingly helpful call from the bank that is anything but.

An automated message asks the listener to call back and divulge bank information.
Sgt Smith stressed the importance of keeping personal financial information private. And even if you think an automated helper at the bank might have a reason to call, it’s a good idea to verify with a living person instead.

Sgt. Smith says the best way to respond to this particular scam is to simply hit delete.
